LE FAUX SOIR By MICHAËL R. ROSKAM | BELGIUM, FRANCE | 2026 | 133 MIN | FRENCH

Inspired by the unbelievable true story during the German occupation of Belgium, Le Faux Soir is a historical thriller paired with dark
humor and the trappings of a heist film.
Belgium, 1943. The country is occupied and controlled by the Nazis. While many have succumbed to this new way of life, a group of resistance fighters plots the most successful methods of counteracting the continuous Nazi propaganda and informing their fellow Belgians as to the truth of the status of the worldwide conflict. Ultimately, these co-conspirators decide on an incredibly risky and daring plan: to print and distribute an alternative edition of the Le Soir newspaper, replacing propaganda with a spoof, mocking their occupiers to ignite greater support for the resistance. Featuring a much more audience-friendly tone from commonly edgy director Michaël R. Roskam (The Drop, Bullhead), Le Faux Soir plays like a hollywood caper, but brings to light a little-known moment in Belgian history that remains increasingly relevant more than eighty years later to modern governments around the world.
