Musical Workshop + Karaoke Night !

🎶 Musical workshop 🎶

Following our Fête de la Musique workshop previously held on June 21st*, this second musical workshop will explore the richness of French and Francophone music through:

• An analysis of lyrics and their cultural and historical context
  
• Focused pronunciation work using the melody and rhythm of the song
• Vocal warm-ups designed to explore French sounds
  
• And finally… singing in French together!
  

For an hour, we will explore the glittering world of disco, from its 70s origins to its modern revival in today’s French music scene.

No pressure, no judgment : this workshop is open to everyone, regardless of your level in French or your musical background.

🎤 Karaoke night 🎤

The workshop will be followed by a Karaoke night : we’ll sing the songs covered during the workshops,  and other beloved classics of Francophone music — from Céline Dion to Charles Aznavour, with stops along the way for Dalida, Stromae, and more. There’ll be something for every taste, all in a fun and friendly atmosphere at the Alliance Française!

We will have snacks and drinks to keep those vocal cords well hydrated, or to take a break to chat and listen.

•  OR just the Karaoke Night

This workshop will be led by Camille Boscher, currently at the Alliance Française of Philadelphia until the end of July. She is completing her Master’s degree in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) in Bordeaux, where she is writing her thesis on the use of song in French language instruction. Having taken singing lessons for seven years and learned English largely through music, she is deeply convinced of the pedagogical and cultural value of singing in a foreign language.

This workshop is an opportunity to discover French from a new perspective—by listening to its melody, playing with its sounds, and engaging with its culture through song.

*While it’s not necessary to attend both, joining the two events would allow you to see your progress and explore two different themes!
