Stars of Philadelphia - Arthur Haywood (Cobbs Creek Golf Course, 2025)
Arthur has completed murals for Mural Arts Philadelphia, Elkins Park School and also a mural for the Global Philadelphia Association at St. Joseph's University a few years ago.
He will present some of his recent and ongoing work in Philadelphia, including ‘Stars of Philadelphia’, a mural of Philadelphia celebrities for the Tiger Woods Learning Lab at Cobbs Creek Golf Course, and he is also starting a mural about creative ways of learning for Blaine Elementary School in the spring.
In this presentation, he will focus on ‘Freedom Across Civilizations” a mural which will be unveiled on March 12 at Penn
Museum.
This mural project and community-led artwork illustrates the question " What does freedom means to me ?"

Arthur Haywood’s paintings highlight human potential through a
fantastical lens. From defeating evil dragons to limitless pursuits into space, his art is a metaphor for courageous aspirations. His
paintings are seen on murals internationally, on the cover and interior of books including his book "The Great Library" and Space
and Time Magazine. He exhibits his paintings internationally and completes commissions. Creating imaginative murals and illustrations to
inspire others and engage youth in reading is his passion. He earned a B.F.A in Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of
Art,
before furthering his study of classical drawing and painting at Cambridge Street Studios in Philadelphia and Grand Central Atelier in New
York. He received the 2020-2021 Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris. He developed murals to inspire a
love of learning and cultural appreciation. He worked with students at Lycée Paul Lapie, Ecollectif and André Malraux Elementary school to
create murals depicting students of diverse origins reading and the stories that have engaged them. He is a recipient of the 2022 - 2023
Tulsa Artist Fellowship and 2024 Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Community Artist Partnership grant to continue his series of paintings for
schools to inspire reading. He is a winner in the 2024 L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest. He currently resides in the
Philadelphia area creating illustrations, paintings and mural commissions.
