Elise Bromberg is a retired clinical social worker turned certified Philadelphia tour guide.  She says : “Taking my out-of-country guests around Philadelphia over many years made me curious and excited about its rich history and culture. When I retired, I turned to tour guiding to continue my passion for researching, developing, and sharing the stories that The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection has to offer. Before doing independent tours, I was a docent at the Penn Museum and a guide with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. I currently offer regular tours of Philadelphia City Hall, of Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion, and of Hope Lodge Mansion. I am a long-time member of the Philadelphia Association of Tour Guides as well as of the Alliance Francaise.”

Elise grew up in Egypt speaking French, English, and Arabic.  Later, she lived in Israel and learned Hebrew. In Mexico, she learned some Spanish. Elise has maintained her love of languages through adult education courses, reading, movies, travels, and  speaking, at every opportunity throughout her many years in Philadelphia.

All classes open upon enrollment. The Alliance Française de Philadelphie reserves the right to cancel classes and change teachers if necessary without advanced notice. Courses are typically canceled due to insufficient enrollment or unavailability of a teacher. If your course is canceled, you will be notified by telephone or email and given the option to transfer to another class, to receive a tuition credit, or to receive a full refund.

A class with only 3 to 4 students lasts 1.5 hours and a class with 5 students or more lasts 2 hours. If the class only has one or two students, the Alliance Française de Philadelphie may ask students to join a different group.

I understand that to be eligible for a refund, I must contact the office at least 24 hours before the first class. After the first class, only a credit for the next session will be issued (a $30.00 cancellation fee plus $37.50 per class is retained by the Alliance Francaise). No credit after the end of the 3rd week of classes.
