Join us for a presentation followed by a discussion of this ultimate classic of French Literature !

To celebrate the 180th  Anniversary of its publication (1845-2025), Roxane Petit-Rasselle, PhD, Associate Professor of French from the Department of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University will be leading a lecture with a pre-review of an abbreviated version of the novel.

Participants will be issued Questions in French and in English to prepare for the discussion afterward.

For Intermediate and Advanced levels in French

In the session you will :

  • Discuss the abbreviated book priorly read by all the attendees.
  • Exchange about your emotions and opinions with the other members.
  • Get the opportunity to expand your literary culture and to improve your French! 
  • Get the opportunity to engage with that classic of French literature with an expert in the field.

Roxane Petit-Rasselle is an associate professor at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she directs the French Program and teaches courses in French language, literature, and culture. Her publications and presentations examine Dumas's authorial strategies, political claims, and modes of representation, as well as the development of literary myths and the use of mythical elements in the works of Dumas and his contemporaries. She is also interested in Guignol puppet theater in 19th-century Lyon.
