This March - Francophonie month, we will be screening THE COUNT OF MONTE-CRISTO (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo),  celebrating the 180th anniversary of Alexander Dumas’ groundbreaking novel.

About the Film:

This French big screen adaptation of Alexander Dumas’ classic piece of world literature is a lavish action-adventure that follows the story of Edmond Dantès who is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. Spending 14 years imprisoned on an island, he escapes and assumes the identity of the Count of Monte-Cristo, exacting revenge on those who wronged him.

The Count of Monte Cristo is a French film directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Mathieu Delaporte. Released in 2024, it had its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and recieved 14 nominations at the 50th César Awards in 2025. It sold over 9 million admissions in France, where it was the second highest-grossing film of 2024. The lead role is played by the internationally renowed actor, Pierre Niney.
