Belgian flutist Berten D'Hollander and composer-pianist Nina Siniakova invite you to a musical journey from Salon to Cinema. 

A light-spirited concert tracing melody from 19th-century salons to the world of film. The program includes works by John Williams, Maria Szymanowska, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Francis Poulenc, Cécile Chaminade, Astor Piazzolla, and Michel Legrand, with some pieces arranged for flûte and piano, and original works by Nina Siniakova.

Berten D’Hollander

Dr. Berten D’Hollander is a Belgian flutist and educator with an international performing career spanning over 30 years, known for his refined sound, versatility, and expressive depth. He is principal flutist of the contemporary ensemble Musiques Nouvelles and has taught and given masterclasses internationally, including in Europe and the U.S., blending classical and contemporary repertoire in his performances.

Nina Siniakova

Dr. Nina Siniakova is an internationally renowned composer and pianist, whose music spans a broad stylistic spectrum — from contemporary classical to jazz and crossover. Her compositions and performances have appeared at venues ranging from Carnegie Weill Recital Hall and Harvard University to the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and Moscow Philharmonic.

D’Hollander and Siniakova began working together in 2023 and have since built a lively artistic partnership. Inspired by his playing, Siniakova has written new works for flute and piano and arrangements that broaden their shared repertoire. Their programs blend contemporary arrangements and original music, offering both performance and insight in a various settings.

All classes open upon enrollment. The Alliance Française de Philadelphie reserves the right to cancel classes and change teachers if necessary without advanced notice. Courses are typically canceled due to insufficient enrollment or unavailability of a teacher. If your course is canceled, you will be notified by telephone or email and given the option to transfer to another class, to receive a tuition credit, or to receive a full refund.

A class with only 3 to 4 students lasts 1.5 hours and a class with 5 students or more lasts 2 hours. If the class only has one or two students, the Alliance Française de Philadelphie may ask students to join a different group.

I understand that to be eligible for a refund, I must contact the office at least 24 hours before the first class. After the first class, only a credit for the next session will be issued (a $30.00 cancellation fee plus $37.50 per class is retained by the Alliance Francaise). No credit after the end of the 3rd week of classes.
