It's summer, the heat is crushing, the climate is unstable. Friends return, as they do every year, to their favorite little village, wedged between the sea and the mountains. As usual, they're bored, eating and drinking a lot. They pay no attention to the fire spreading across the mountain, nor to the world around them. But this year, a mysterious man arrives from the sea and upsets their supposed equilibrium... Adapted from The Little Horses of Tarquinia by Marguerite Duras
