GENERAL INFORMATION & SCHEDULES

Alliance Française de Philadelphie offers French classes all year round.  We have four 10-week sessions per year  during fall, winter, spring, & summer.

Our general French classes meet once a week for 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on class size and the level of classes ranges from A1 to C2. We limit the number of students in our classes to 8 students maximum. 

We currently offer online and in-person classes, taught by highly qualified French instructors.

SPECIALIZED CLASSES - Spring 2024


L' amour dans la littérature médiévale
Tuesdays from 11:30 AM to 1 PM | with Sophie Schaller Wright
Level B2 minimum | IN PERSON/ZOOM

Ce cours de 10 semaines offre une immersion dans le monde ensorcelant du Moyen Âge. Découvrez différents aspects de l’amour courtois et du monde de la merveille à travers l’exploration de poèmes et de romans d’aventures chevaleresques. Nous utiliserons aussi la tradition manuscrite et iconographique pour une compréhension encore plus immersive. Alors rejoignez prof. Sophie Schaller Wright, et plongez dans un univers de troubadours et trouvères, de belles dames et de leurs soupirants, de Perceval et Blancheflor, enfin, des amants sublimes, Tristan et Iseut.


Littérature Africaine

Rejoignez Jean-Claude Djereke et étudiez le roman “Assèze l’Africaine” de l'auteure camerounaise Calixte Beyala.


Les Régions de France
Tuesdays from 7 PM to 9 PM | with Gigi Kuhn
Level B1 minimum | Zoom

Explore the rich diversity of multiple regions from Normandie, to Alpes to Occitanie. Gigi Kuhn, French native speaker and world traveler, will share the history, economy, geography, and civilization unique to each region and take you on a memorable journey where language and culture become one. Meet local guest speakers from each region to enhance your authentic experience. Be ready to embark on a fun virtual trip to the most visited country in the world. Bon voyage !

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Registration for the Spring session starts on February 5th, 2024.
Early bird discount valid between February 5th and February 16th, 2024.


NEW STUDENTS - We require all prospective students with previous experience studying French or living in a French speaking country to take a placement test over the phone to determine their appropriate level before registering.

We are now accepting placement test requests for the Spring and Summer Session 2024.

The placement test takes between 15-20 minutes to complete.
One of our professors will contact you directly for a quick conversation in French. They will then let you know your level and schedule options for your course.

All classes open upon enrollment. I understand that to be eligible for a refund, I must contact the office at least 24 hours before the first class. After the first class, only a credit for the next session will be issued (a $30.00 cancellation fee plus $35.00 per class is retained by the Alliance Francaise). No credit after the end of the 3rd week of classes.
A late registration fee will be applied to registrations made after the end of the first week of classes.

for a 10-week session (material not included) - price of course materials depends on course level.


Enrollment is contingent upon advanced payment for course and materials.
To be eligible for a refund, students must contact the office
