The Alliance Française de Philadelphie welcomes Sasha Watson for an author talk on her novel, Vidalia in Paris.

Sasha WatsonWhen Vidalia wins a scholarship to study art abroad for the summer, she can’t believe her good fortune. But a trip to Paris, and a dangerous love, will soon change her life forever, in this gripping debut novel.

Sasha Watson has spent several years of her life in Paris. In that time, she has lived in a chambre de bonne, visited lots of museums, and eaten her share of delicious French bread products, just like Vidalia. Back in the United States, she studied French literature and translation at Barnard College and earned her Master’s Degree in French literature from New York University. Vidalia in Paris is her debut novel. She lives in Los Angeles, but she goes back to Paris whenever she can.

Geared towards both teens and adults, Sasha Watson's presentation will explore her journey as a writer, and how her relationship to France and French culture has shaped that journey over the years. Ms. Watson will share her observations on France and the United States’ different approaches to many aspects of culture, including education, art, and creativity.

$15 for members of the Alliance Française; $20 for non-members.
Price includes a pastry as well as a hot tea, coffee or small hot chocolate.
